It’s that time of year again.   Time to shop for gifts, wrap them in pretty paper, and tuck them away to await Christmas Day.   Time to get out Christmas decorations and deck the halls with cheery bows and balls.  Time to bake scads of cookies.

We are very privileged to be able to have two of our three children and their families with us for Christmas this year and both my DH and I are baking the traditional cookies (and me some candies) that we expect to see on our table at Christmas Time.

And, yes, I certainly do know that Christmas isn’t just eating and opening presents.  We celebrate the birth of the ChristChild.  It doesn’t matter whether He was born on the actual day.  What matters is that we remember His birth and honor Him.

The first cookie this year was the Russian Tea Cakes.  I posted a tutorial (and also the recipe) in 2011 on making the nutty, powered sugar balls. I also have the dough for the cut-out cookies in the refrigerator.  I’ll do those next.

  1. love these cookies, My Grandma use to make Snickerdoodles, so I bake them also, love the hersey kisses peanut butter cookies also
