A Full Root Cellar

I canned the last of the tomatoes yesterday.  We have 67 quarts and 3 pints.  My husband will probably use almost all of those during this next year.  (We both cook, but he cooks Italian, meaning he uses lots of tomatoes.)  Here’s a photo of the canned food, including pickles and jellies.

The shelves are full of canned and pickled vegetables plus jellies.

The bins are full of onions, garlic, and potatoes.  (There are holes drilled in the sides for ventilation.)

I think we are ready for winter.

  1. What a gorgeous display of the year’s labor! I bet you’re looking forward to winter–when there’s a bit less work to do!

  2. I am jealous! We haven’t produced that many tomatoes in the garden yet. Well, maybe we might have but with a family of 6 that many tomatoes have yet to make it into the jar. Love it!

  3. oh this is so cool!

Wishing you a magical Christmas season and all the good things in 2014! 🙂
