Square in a Square Quilt

I’m taking a break from talking about writing.  I’d like to share pictures of my latest quilt that I just took it off the quilting machine yesterday.  I wasn’t sure who I was going to give this one to, then my husband claimed it for himself.  I don’t have the binding on yet and that will have to wait until I finish a quilt that I’m in the process of putting on the longarm quilting machine.  I like the way the black sashings bring out the colorful blocks. I modified the quilt pattern slightly from a Leisure Arts book, Quick and Easy Scrap Quilts.  Thanks for taking a look.

Finished and draped over my quilting machine.

A close up of the blocks.

The quilting always shows up better on the backside.

Hi Sue: this quilt is gorgeous. No wonder your husband claimed it.

  2. It looks like a scrap quilt, my favorite kind. The black sashing pulls it all together, good idea. Yep, I can understand why your husband claiimed it, and it’s not supposed to be perfect. 🙂

  3. That’s a lovely quilt. Looks like making Dad a beautiful quilt and getting a gourmet meal for your dulcimer group go hand in hand!

Not really. The quilt was to be his months ago. He offered to cook for us because he enjoys cooking. He wouldn’t even let me help. He’s a keeper. 🙂

Beautiful!! I’d claim such a lovely quilt were I able, also! A nice compliment from your husband…appreciation of one’s artistic work….just like Mama putting your color page on the “fridge”!

Thank you, Naomi. He has one, but he wanted another one to change with the seasons. This one is more of a winter quilt.
